Our Polytunnel

Towards the end of last school year, having discussed all the possibilities around creating a school garden, it was decided to pursue the creation of a school polytunnel.

The educational value of this project is obvious and we hope to generate and foster in our pupils an appreciation of nature at work over the course of the school year. Our plan has now become a reality.

We wish to record our appreciation of the input of the Parents Association into this project and the committee sourced all the information required in addition to sourcing quotations from around the country. The cost was funded by the Board of Management.

The completed tunnel was erected, raised beds constructed and topsoil sourced and delivered by Green Living Concepts, a company based in County Galway. It was completed on September 3rd. The company has featured our school yard addition on its Facebook page here

We hope to have many years of training little green fingers!! Here are some photos to track the project from green field site to Fifth and Sixth Classes preparing the seed bed.
